Hello All,
I have a deceased grandpa that has a tobruk medal on his minatures.
Don't believe he ever marched on ANZAC Day
Would like to hear from anyone who has personnel info on Bill Roberts, I am a 23 yr veteran of the Australian Army with operational service. The stories my Nana recalls are conflicting with the stories and times he was away. His Army records differ from personnel records. As a realist who has a medal issued 12 yrs prior to my birth i don't believe anything the big green machine tells me.
Where did the rats go after the fall of tobruk?

Hi there, I love your site. My Grandfather was a Rat of Tobruk. His name was Roy Kuhl. I will try to find his photo's from when he was over there and pass them on. But I would also like to find more information. He died when I was very young, and I don't think he liked to talk about life over there. My daughters and I would love to learn as much as possible to keep the memory of what these brave men endured for us and our allies alive.
Thank you so much for this website.

My father, Carl Steinberger, was one of the Rats. He was in the 9th Division. I do have all the details, as well as hundreds of photos taken all over the Middle East, if anyone is interesed. My brother has all his medals and wears them proudly every ANZAC Day.

Philip & Edward,

Well done for a great site on the ROT. My father was a ROT and he was with the 2/10 Battalion, his name was Jack Page. He passes away in 1997, but before he did in 1994 for my daugthers 18 birthday which is 27 April he came and stayed with me and my family.

This is after 40 years of not seeing him. That ANZAC Day in Adelaide there was three generations of marching that year. My son who was 13 carried the name plate for the 2/10 Battalion and I marched beside my as at that time I was still serving in the Australian Regular Army.

Again thank you for a good site and keep up the good work to remember the Australian Soldiers past and present who have given their lives, so that we can live in a great country.

Well done.

My father Francis James "Jim" Connors was in the 6th division. He was a machine gunner and joined the arny at age 16 or 17. Like many, he 'bent the truth about his age'

He was supporting his widowed mother who ultimately had 13 children, most from her second marriage. My father always retained a deep affection for his mother.

The war left him with an aversion to loud noise. He was due to return home for R & R leave, but instead had to defend the Kokoda track. Like most Veterans he said nothing to us about his service during WW11.

Upon reading many books in recent years, I can only admire the courage of these very young soldiers who must have seen so many terrible things and sacrificed so much of their youth for all Australians. Lest we forget.

Thanks for a great website. My uncle Len Gorrick was a ROT and I'd like to find out whatever I can about him and the Rats. He died on 26 August 2008 and I still miss him terribly. Does anyone have any stories of him? He was a stretcher bearer and ambulance driver.

Hi, my father, Milton Ernest Jarman served in Tobruk as a Rat and is still living to this day. He will be 93 in September. Was wondering if there are any other survivors still living.
